My Motive: There must be a seat reserved to such a candidate who can’t score good marks in Written but has charm to shine brighter in future.
After my 12th, I wanted to pursue engineering, I applied for that course in one of the prestigious colleges in Agra named Dayalbagh Educational Institute. To get into the college, written and interview were the two stages to qualify. I tried but failed and kept trying for the next two years consecutively but couldn’t get into the college as I couldn’t score well in the written exam but deep down I knew that if I had got into the college I would have certainly performed well as I had been the brightest one. I wanted to get in and wanted that one chance desperately to prove my mettle but god has planned something else for me so could not get into it. My father could not afford my engineering education in any other college so I made bachelor of science my calling. And it has been 4 years and here I am with a degree of post-graduation in Mathematics.
A chase
However, the spark to get into the college was never doused and again applied in Dayalbagh Educational Institute for the course of Post-Graduation in Mass Communication as I also had longing for the latter course.
But there was something different this time, among 70 seats, only 12 was available for general category. But to my surprise I was the topper of the exam which was followed by interview. And even interviewers were very excited to have a student like me in their college and must have seen a bright journalist in me.
I remember a quote which goes like “You Only fail when you stop TRYING”
Post interview, the moment they congratulated me for being shortlisted and apprised me of the date and timing of documentation process, I could not hold my feeling and denied taking admission. They were dumbstruck with my reply.
My Reply
Actually, after post-graduation I was not in a mood to take admission to any college whatsoever, I just wanted to score high in the written exam which I couldn’t achieve four years back but then I did that. And this is what I said to the panel.
I also adjured them to give my seat to someone who has not scored good marks but has the spark and passion for the course and if given the chance, he/she can outperform others later in life. I put my words to rest with that final statement which impressed the interviewees, I rejoiced that moment and came back home.
Get Inspired
I have no idea who might have grabbed that seat but I hope for his best and wish him to be one of the honest prominent journalists of our country. I wish him good luck my dear unknown.
